Kolejny rok był przełomowy dla Joanna Duda Trio – podczas festiwalu Jazzahead!2018 w ramach “Polish Night” ich występ zyskał ogromne uznanie, co zaowocowało licznymi koncertami w Europie, Kanadzie i USA.Obecny skład, z udziałem Joanny Dudy (fortepian, elektronika), Maksymiliana Muchy (kontrabas, efekty) oraz Michała Bryndala (bębny, elektronika) został ugruntowany pod koniec 2018 roku.Debiutancki album Joanna Duda Trio – FUMITSUKE – został wydany nakładem wytwórni Echo Production. Album miał swoją premierę w listopadzie 2021 roku podczas London Jazz Festival, a trasa koncertowa FUMITSUKE nabrała tempa w kolejnych latach. Do końca 2023 Joanna Duda Trio zdobyło już uznanie na scenach jazzowych w Wielkiej Brytanii, Polsce, Francji, Finlandii, Włoszech, USA, Kanadzie, Niemczech, Słowenii, Węgrzech i Austrii. Zespół występował na prestiżowych scenach, takich jak Ronnie Scott’s w Londynie, Le Periscope w Lyonie, Dizzy’s Jazz Club w Nowym Jorku, Porgy & Bess w Wiedniu, NOSPR w Katowicach, a także na ważnych festiwalach, w tym Berlin JazzFest, Alto Adige Sudtirol Festival, London Jazz Festival, Leipziger Jazztage oraz Vancouver International Jazz Festival.

  Kris Davis is a critically acclaimed pianist and composer described by The New York Times as a beacon for “deciding where to hear jazz on a given night.” Since 2003, Davis has released 23 recordings as a leader or co-leader. She has collaborated with Terri Lyne Carrington, John Zorn, Craig Taborn, Ingrid Laubrock, Tyshawn Sorey, Tom Rainey, Eric Revis, Stephan Crump and Eric McPherson, among others. In 2019, her album “Diatom Ribbons” was named jazz album of the year by both the New York Times and the NPR Music Jazz Critics Poll. She was also named a 2021 Doris Duke Artist alongside Wayne Shorter and Danilo Perez, 2020 Pianist of the Year by DownBeat magazine, and 2021 Pianist and Composer of the Year by the Jazz Journalists Association. In 2016, Davis launched Pyroclastic Records to support artists whose expression expands beyond the commercial sphere. She subsequently formed a nonprofit organization to support the label’s work. In addition, Davis is the Associate Program Director of Creative Development at the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice. Davis is a Steinway Artist.

  When Kris Davis was looking for an image to represent her composition process, the “floating between micro and macro”, she found it in the organic shape of diatoms. These incredibly complex, small scale structures which are so beautiful when viewed from above: diatom ribbons. Davis’ perfect little rhythmic motifs are just the beginning: they serve as anchors for her fellow musicians, allowing them to drift while at the same time always staying grounded. They let the music flow, store up their energy. The musical backgrounds of Diatom Ribbons: currently one of the most subtle pianists, THE legendary drummer/singer/producer, the diva of the double bass and an exciting young hip hop sound artist explore their common spaces for a tribute project. Kris Davis, Terri Lyne Carrington, Esperanza Spalding and Val Jeanty play for the unforgettable Geri Allen. This collaboration inspired Kris Davis to intensively examine the various influences on her compositional language and to write more specifically for this formation. And the result is indeed organic. A pulse of bizarre samples in endless loops and free-rhythmical, inspired solo parts are layered on top of each other. Above all this, floats the calm of Kris Davis’ piano, which probably comes from giving her notes the same importance as she does to pauses. The special atmosphere soon attracted like-minded people, and as a result Davis was able to assemble an intimidating line-up for the recently released album. In addition to Carrington, Spalding and Jeanty, Tony Malaby, Ches Smith, Trevor Dunn, Marc Ribot and Nels Cline also perform on it. For the European tour, Davis reduced the line up to its essentials, which on the one hand benefits the micro-facetted structure of this music and on the other hand its live effect. (Sandra Hupfauf)

  Chief Xian aTunde Adjuah (formerly Christian Scott), is a two-time Edison Award winning and five-time Grammy Award nominated musician, composer and producer. He is the nephew of jazz innovator and legendary sax man, Donald Harrison, Jr. His musical tutelage began under the direction of his uncle at the age of thirteen. After graduating from the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) in 2001, Adjuah received a full tuition scholarship to Berklee College of Music where he earned a degree in Professional Music and Film Scoring thirty months later.

  Since 2002, Adjuah has released twelve critically acclaimed studio recordings, three live albums and one greatest hits collection. According to NPR, Adjuah “ushers in new era of jazz”. He has been heralded by JazzTimes Magazine as “Jazz’s young style God.” Adjuah is known for developing the harmonic convention known as the “forecasting cell” and for his use of an un-voiced tone in his playing, emphasizing breath over vibration at the mouthpiece. The technique is known as his “whisper technique.” Adjuah is also the progenitor of “Stretch Music,” a jazz rooted, genre blind musical form that attempts to “stretch” jazz’s rhythmic, melodic and harmonic conventions to encompass multiple musical forms, languages and cultures.

  Since 2006, Christian has worked with a number of notable artists, including Prince, Radiohead’s Thom Yorke, McCoy Tyner, Marcus Miller, Eddie Palmieri, rappers Mos Def (Yasin Bey), Talib Kweli, and Vic Mensa, as well as heralded poet and musician Saul Williams. Adjuah scored his identical twin brother’s and Director’s Guild of America Award recipient, writer-director and Spike Lee protégé, Kiel Adrian Scott’s, Student Academy Award nominated film, Samaria. Other recent film credits include the inclusion of Adjuah in the upcoming Bill and Ted Face the Music, starring Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter, slated for release in 2020. He plays a member of The Future Council and contributes music for one of the films characters. Adjuah is also featured in the upcoming romantic comedy, The Photograph, starring Issa Rae and released in 2020. He appears in the film as himself and also contributes musically.
